Activism Academy

Supporting young people in their fight for racial justice

This programme focuses on empowering young people to make real social change and become effective racial justice activists in their communities.

We are offering young people the opportunity to take part in a 6-month extracurricular programme where you will learn the skills and gain the confidence to develop your own projects and campaigns to reduce racism and inequity in our society, on a local, national, or even global scale!

You will be part of a cohort of 45 like-minded young activists and will be provided with ongoing support and guidance from our leaders and your peers.

At the end of the programme, participants will pitch the racial justice projects they have been working on, with a chance to win 3 grants of £1,000 to expand your project.

Participation in the Activism Academy is free of charge as we want to ensure anyone can access this programme regardless of their background or situation.

Programme Details

Our main goals are to encourage young people to explore their existing (but perhaps untapped) potential and grow into confident, educated and inclusive young leaders who are going to lead the way for racial equality for the next generation.

This is a consistent and in-depth programme (with a 6-month commitment), so by the end of it, we truly believe that it will boost your potential to change the world for the better.

The programme is made up of online learning sessions, in-person workshop days, a field trip to Cambridge University, regular mentoring from industry professionals, and a big celebration event at the finale of the programme to celebrate your success and progress.

Session 5: Introduction to Politics
Session 6: Creation of Your Social Action Project

Session 7: Kicking Off Your Project & Getting Matched with a Mentor
Session 8: Activism Through Art - fine art, theatre, writing
Session 9: Improving Public Speaking & Speech Writing
Field Trip - Cambridge University
3 months: Ongoing mentoring and support, developing and carrying out your social action project
Final Pitches and Grant Awards Ceremony
